Day 01: Arrival in Paro, (Paro – Thimphu)

Fly to Paro with Druk Air, Royal Bhutan Airlines, or Bhutan Airlines. You will be welcomed and received at the airport by our representative who will also be your tour guide for your stay in Bhutan.

Drive to Thimphu (Capital city) and check into your hotel then sightseeing options for the remainder of the day.

Takin Preserve Center: which houses the national animal Takin. This is an extremely rare member of the goat family. Found in herds in the very high altitudes (13,125ft and over).

Centenary Farmers’ market: (if your tour coincides with market days) where farmers would be selling their wide range of farm products. Free interaction with people from town as well as from villages come to this weekend market. The weekend market is from Thursday to Sunday (4 days).

Tashichhoedzong: a fortress of the glorious religion built in the 17th century. It houses the throne room and the office of the Druk Gyalpo, His Majesty the King of Bhutan, the central monk body, and various government offices.

Craft Bazaar where craftsmen and artisans from across the country display and sell their handicrafts.

In the evening stroll around town and feel free to mingle with the locals, or do some shopping at the handicraft stores or visit pubs.

Day 02: Thimphu – Punakha & Wangduephodrang

Travel to Punakha through Dochula Pass (3,088m/10,130ft) from where you can enjoy the panoramic view of the Himalayan Mountain ranges. Then pass by the beautiful 108 stupas.

Chhimi Lhakhang (Temple of the Divine Madman): famous for its fertility shrine, where one can receive the boon of fertility.

Punakha Dzong: located on the island of the Pho Chu (male river) and the Mo chu (female river). The fortress was built in the 17th century to serve as the religious and administrative seat of the region. Also visit the Kuenray, the Coronation Hall of all kings of Bhutan.

In the evening visit local markets in Punakha.

Day 03: Punakha / Wangduephodrang -Paro

After breakfast, travel to Paro via Dochula Pass and the southern part of Thimphu. On arrival at Paro, check into your hotel in Paro, and after lunch visit the following:

National Museum, housed in the Ta Dzong (watchtower). Here an intriguing collection of artifacts provides a wonderful introduction to the rich culture and heritage of the Kingdom.

Paro Dzong, the fortress that houses the governor’s office and the district administration offices along with the Mon body. Built-in the 17th Century, the fortress is a fine example of Bhutanese historic architecture. From the dzong, walk further down to Nyamai Zampa, the oldest traditional cantilever bridge in Bhutan.

In the evening stroll the town and feel free to mingle with the locals or visit local handicraft stores.

Day 04: A Day Hike to Paro Taktsang Goempa (Tiger’s Nest Monastery)

You will embark on a day hike to Taktsang Monastery, also known as ‘Tiger’s Nest’. The climb up to the viewpoint will take around 1 ½ hours and from there you will enjoy a spectacular view of the monastery clinging to the side of the cliff. You can either stop for refreshment at the View Point Cafeteria or walk further up to the monastery which will take about 1 hour. The overall hike up to the monastery and down, including breaks, would be around 5 hours.

On the way, visit Kichu temple, one of the 108 temples built in the 7th century by the Tibetan King Songsten Gyembo.

In the evening relax with a hot-stone bath or a massage and overnight at a hotel in Paro.

Day 05: Departure from Paro

Your tour guide will escort you to the airport according to your flight schedule for your onward destinations.
